The first of many unique ways of directional quality, by using a flashback or ending to start the film confuses and intrigues the brain.
This film is about memory-loss. He (Guy Pearce) lost his wife and also his memory, so in order to get revenge on the people that did this he must use tattoo’s and photo’s to restore yesterday’s memory.

Memento.
The first of the rebooted Batman franchise, The darkness and realistic view of my favourite superhero or in this perception of the director a super human. The beginning of the greatest trilogy ever made in the hands of the director and writer.

Batman Begins.
The next installment begins with more work of mind illusion’s and mystery. Two magician’s (Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman) battle for title of world’s best illusionist and magician, I think this film made me realise how capable this director was. As the rivalry turns deadly, their quest to be better than each other ends with what I can only describe as one the best ending’s to a film I’ve ever seen.

The Prestige.
Now, the next chapter of the Batman trilogy and even darker than the first. Probably the most notable film for the past 20 years. The pinnacle of this director/writer’s movies so far, When a film has grossed half a billion dollars then you know that something has gone according to plan. For me, this film is about one person. Heath Ledger. How can I love a man who is pure evil? The villain that everyone hates? Ledger is the reason, in this defining moment in his life I feel privileged for this forever lasting image of his performance as The Joker.

The Dark Knight.
The latest installment and most talked about film of 2010, eagerly anticipated and accepted as one of the all time greats. I could say it is my favourite, but what do you class as favourite when you have so many? The first film I seen on IMAX, which gave this masterpiece more reason that also the performances of the actors plus directional quality plus the Oscar winning cinematography from Wally Pfister will lie in our minds and ironically in our dreams for a long time yet. In this film Leonardo Di Caprio assembles a team of skilled ‘dream’ specialists to steal a person’s subconscious during a dream state.

Inception.
So, I’ve named 5 of the 6 of this director’s main stream films. Other films include Insomnia, which he did not write like he did with this 5.

Christopher Nolan is the Director, Writer and Producer of the films above. He has vastly became re-known as one the best directors of our generation.
Nolan will be known forever as turning the comic book and failed Batman attempts into the realistic and revived version of this cult hero. Batman Begins was critically acclaimed for its darkness and more intelligent storyline. This put Nolan on the map.
We then seen The Prestige take similar praise and box-office success, again casting Christian Bale and Michael Caine together. This film went back to familiar directional skills from Memento but with more rewards.
After the success of Batman Begins, the sequel The Dark Knight was released. As I said earlier the gross from this film has surpassed $500 million dollars with some critics now labelling it as ‘The greatest comic-book movie ever made’.
Then came Inception, Probably Nolan’s finest piece of artwork so far. His vision and attempt at something any film-goer had ever seen. His description of ‘A contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind’.
His future productions were reportedly a new ‘Superman’ franchise with fellow writer from the Batman series but Nolan has de-tagged himself from that production to focus mainly an the very anticipated third and final chapter of his restored view of his main superhero. The Dark Knight Rises can only stay in the future for so long…
